Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons Vegetable oil
- 10 teaspoons Urad dal rinsed and drained
- 10 teaspoons Chana dal rinsed and drained
- 10 Red chilies Dried
- 5 teaspoons Sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon Asafoetida
- Salt
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a frying pan (skillet) over medium heat.
- Add the dals.
- Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until fragrant.
- Add the dried red chillies and sesame seeds and stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes, or until they start to splutter and are fragrant.
- Add the asafoetida and stir-fry for 1 minute.
- Season with salt.
- Transfer all the ingredients to a mortar and pound with a pestle.
- Alternstively, grind in a spice grinder, to make a fine powder.
- Sieve (strain).
- Store in an airtight container.
